Wanting to escape the city and take an adventure in the English countryside? Then the Cotswolds is the perfect place!
Whilst writing this blog post, I am looking out at our little Cotswolds garden, with views beyond to the fields. The hedgerows & trees are starting to turn, all gorgeous shades of coppers, lime greens, burning reds & browns. The horse chestnut leaves are starting to curl up as the nights get colder & we still have a surprising show of roses. Over the years we have spent a huge amount of time in our garden. Adding to the orchard that we inherited from previous owners, we now have over 28 trees. The summer has been bountiful, with damsons, apples, loganberries & more recently medlers. So we have a fantastic stock of chutneys for the winter. The hedgerows surrounding the garden have been very generous with their blackberries, so it will be 'crumbles' galore throughout the autumn & as we approach Christmas.
Now winter is the perfect time to visit the Cotswolds, although the weather may not be as ideal as late spring to summer. You will find all the locations quieter, and as the icy mornings approach the Cotswold countryside looks as though it has been dusted with frosting.
In the winter we focus on our Famous Cotswolds Tour, that visit the beautiful riverside villages of Upper & Lower Slaughter along with Bourton on the Water, which is a perfect stop for morning coffee or a pastry in one of the bakeries. Over lunch we head to the highest market town in the Cotswolds, Stow on the Wold. Stow, has a fabulous selection of eateries along with lots of little shops to explore. Then in the afternoon we head to our secret village & then into the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, so guests can see the fairy-tale thatched cottages.
Combined with the fact that we collect guests from the ever popular & very accessible Moreton in Marsh. This is the perfect pick-up for guests arriving by train, from London-Paddington, Oxford & Worcester. Or if you have already arrived, we also provide a free collection & return service from Stow on the Wold, Chipping Campden & Bourton on the Water. So why not pack an overnight bag & spend a few nights soaking up the peace, quiet & tranquillity of the Cotswolds. Book a Cotswold tour with us you know you will see all the best places & learn the quirky history along the way.
Our Winter Famous Cotswold Tour is priced at £45 per person & is running throughout November & December. As many other local tours close for the season, then seats sell out fast, remember we only have 7 seats available on each Cotswold Tour. Don't delay, book your Cotswolds Guided Tour today!
