Go to the Cotswolds from London


Whilst your taking in the many sights of London, you maybe looking for a day trip out to enjoy the traditional English countryside, if this is the case, the Cotswolds is the place to go! Easily accessible for those staying in London, catch the train from London Paddington and you will find, in a little over an hour you are transported to an area where time has seemingly stood still. Once you reach Moreton in Marsh, you will discover a market town that is a hive of activity, with its weekly market still taking place on a Tuesday. There are a selection of good inns for travellers to stay, plenty of options for an evening meal and a selection of shops to explore. The oldest part of the town is around the Parish Church, you also have the impressive building which is now the Manor House Hotel along with the White Hart Royal and its cobbled entrance way, which claims its Royal distinction for having provided shelter to King Charles 1 during the time of the English civil war. Don’t miss the recently refurbished curfew tower, and the Bell Inn which has links to Tolkein. A good walk to take, if the weather is kind takes you north-west of Moreton in Marsh to Batsford Park, you can stop at the garden centre there to enjoy the views and have tea and cake at the balconied tearooms, if time permits then take a look around the Arboretum, which hosts the largest private collection of tree & shrub specimens, fantastic in spring and autumn.
