QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR COTSWOLDS TOUR
Lucy & Richard know just how important it is to choose the right company to be part of your holiday.
For many visiting England & exploring the Cotswolds has been on their bucket list for many years, so you want to know your making the right decision. Our reviews testify that we are a fun, friendly & reliable local business, but perhaps you still have some questions....well do take a look below, for our 'Frequently Asked Questions' which we hope you will find useful.
Or you are very welcome to to 'Contact Us', we are renowned for our customer service & speedy replies to enquiries.
Can I reach the Cotswolds from London / Oxford ?
Yes!

50% of our guests travel to the Cotswolds by train from London & Oxford. It is super easy to reach us.
The rail company that runs a direct service is called 'Great Western Railways'. From London you catch the over rail train from 'London Paddington', which takes 1 hour 30 minutes. The same train line stops at Oxford, so guests staying in Oxford can hop on the train & you will be in the Cotswolds in 30 minutes.

We will meet you at 'Moreton in Marsh' railway station to start your tour.
What is a 'private' Cotswolds tour?
We have a vehicle that can accommodate up to 7 guests, but you will not be sharing your tour with anyone else. When booking a private tour with us, you will only be travelling with people you know + the driver/ guide
(Lucy or Richard).

So, if you are travelling solo, on holiday with your friends or family, when you book a tour with us, you have exclusive use of the vehicle.
The price shown is for the tour, not a price per person.
I have luggage; can I bring it with me?
We always try to accommodate guests with luggage.
Please get in touch & we can discuss the options with you. Luggage shouldn't be a problem on our private tours....depending on how much you have!
The options vary depending on how many of you are travelling & the size of your luggage, either way just get in touch!
If you are booked on to a small group tour we will need to make alternative arrangements for your luggage...please don't bring it with you without reaching out first : ) Your hotel should be able to store your luggage throughout the day but just let us know in advance & we can be sure to help.....there is always a solution!
Can I explore the Cotswolds in one day?
The Cotswolds is one of the largest areas of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' in England, covering 800 square miles. So you couldn't see 'everything' in one day, but our tours are designed to show you all the best places to give you a true insight into the enchanting villages & market towns that have made this region famous.
How long are your Cotswold tours?
Great question, we have a range of tour options to choose from depending on how much time you have.

The following one day Cotswolds tours are available:
Famous Cotswolds 6 hour tour.
Cotswolds Bucket List 7 hour tour.
Ultimate Cotswolds & the Epic Cotswolds tour 8 hour tour.
Or if you want to stay a little longer, we also have our two day Cotswolds Highlights tour, our North & South Cotswolds two day tour or our three day Conquer the Cotswolds tour.
When do I pay for my tour?
We recommend guests book their tour with us as far in advance as possible. We are a 'micro' company with only one vehicle & we get booked up fast!

To book your tour all you have to do is fill out our reservation form. We will check your date is available & send you a confirmation email.
You can pay your deposit (£50 per day for private tours or £50 per person for our small group tours).
The remaining payment for your tour is in full 8 weeks before your tour date.

When your payment is due, we will send an electronic invoice. The invoice will have a secure 'Pay Now' button. You can pay using any major credit / debit card.
When is the best time to visit the Cotswolds?
Ohhh, now this is a hard question to answer!

The quietest times to visit the Cotswolds are Autumn, Winter & Spring.

The best months for flowers are May, June & September.

The warmest months (by UK standards!) are June through to September.

If you are hoping for a glimpse of snow, then December through to February we could have snow....although this is not guaranteed!

Autumn colour is best seen mid October through to first week of November.

It truly depends what your reasons for visiting the Cotswolds are, if you want to explore picture perfect villages then no matter what time of year your vacation is the Cotswolds will delight you!
Do I have time for lunch during the tour?
We have allocated a 90 minute stop in one of the larger locations so you will have time for lunch.
We can provide recommendations for lunch on the day, or if you want to pre-book a lunch venue just let us know & we can advise on the best time to make your reservation.

Most guests wander and decide on the day depending on how hungry they are & what catches their eye.

If you have any special dietary requirements we can offer advise in advance...just let us know.

Lunch / refreshments are not included in the tour price.
What should I wear for my Cotswolds tour?
The best word would be 'comfy'.
This is not a hiking tour, so you don't need walking boots or any special equipment, just wear a good comfy pair of shoes.
Some village streets are cobbled, so the ground can be a little uneven.
Layers are a good idea too, depending on what climate you are used too you may find the UK a little chilly. So if you have layers then you can add or remove items throughout the day.

Being the UK the weather can be unpredictable, so we always have umbrellas just in case of a rain shower. (HA! Us Brits can't help to drop the weather into a conversation!)

During the Spring, Autumn & Winter we would recommend a warm jacket. The Cotswolds is always a few degrees cooler than London / Oxford.
How far will I walk on the tour?
Great question!

There is an element of walking on all of our tours. We will collect you from your accommodation in our spacious 8 seater minibus. Then we will drive you along quiet country lanes to beautiful villages & market towns. But don't worry you will not be stuck on the minibus all day!
We stop at each village listed on the tour description. When we stop you will have 'free time' for self exploration.
Don't worry your guide is on hand if you need them!

On a 6 hour tour, guests average 10,000 steps (5 miles) split across 6 locations. We hope this doesn't sound daunting, some guests walk a little further or not quite as far, it just depends how much of each village you want to see.
Where should you stay?
A question we often get asked is 'Do you know anywhere we could stay overnight (or for a few days)?'.
Well the simple answer is yes! Being local we have a pretty good ideas on the best places & we always ask our guests for feedback on where they have stayed / if they have enjoyed their accommodation.
In actual fact we have written a couple of blog posts about local hotels which you can check out here
We also have a page about places to stay in the Cotswolds here

For those of you who want to fully immerse yourself in the 'Cotswold Experience' & love the idea of staying in your very own Cotswold cottage. We would highly recommend taking a look at Bolthole Retreats website They have a stunning selection of cottages for all budgets plus they are a local company so have invaluable insight into the very best places to stay during your Cotswolds holiday
